Hungry for some outdoor dining in Dallas, Texas? You’re in luck!
With mild temperatures and sunny skies almost year-round, there’s an abundance of restaurants with inviting and picturesque patios and terraces. In recent years, dining in Dallas has been elevated to an art form, with creative menus of all kinds popping up in neighborhoods citywide. Food lovers especially adore trying new open-air hotspots, and sharing some of the chefs’ particularly photographic specialties on Instagram.
On your next visit, plan to enjoy lunch, dinner or a late-night snack at some of these Instagram-worthy eateries, featuring delectable delights under the big Texas sky—or beneath an umbrella of stars.
1. Chelsea Corner
A revitalized legend, Chelsea Corner was originally established in 1974 and has now re-opened its doors and to become a fan favorite once again.
Situated in a historic building in the Knox neighborhood, the eatery features two spacious, climate-controlled patios where you can relax and snap photos of their fun, tasty offerings, like zesty gulf crab deviled eggs, twisted fried chicken sandwiches, and delicious homemade pizza.
2. El Bolero
If you’re in the mood for Mexican food in the Design district, head to El Bolero’s funky, fun patio and order some authentic offerings made with seasonal ingredients. House specialties include an array of ceviche and tacos, lobster rice with scallops, and pollo con ancho y cacao—that's pulled chicken with pomegranate and avocado.
Their unique and inventive agave cocktail menu is filled with especially photo-friendly concoctions. Offering lunch, brunch (and a great happy hour), this restaurant is always jumping. They don’t take reservations so be sure to arrive early, especially for an outdoor table.
3. Chicken Scratch
Casual and lively, Chicken Scratch is a sprawling family- and dog-friendly space in West Dallas serving up all types of locally sourced fresh chicken daily—from buttermilk fried chicken to a whole roasted rotisserie. Extras include steamed tamales and robust salads, and for dessert, brightly-hued fruit popsicles, ideal for those close-ups!
It’s adjacent to the Foundry beer garden that serves up a variety of draft brews and other beverages, and guests can choose to sit at the picnic tables or inside converted (yet comfortable) storage containers.
4. The Living Room bar and the Parigi restaurant
For a more upscale al fresco experience, an ideal place for an aperitif is the Living Room bar at the W Dallas – Victory, which offers a posh terrace setting for sipping and Instagramming, as well as colorful craft cocktails that taste as dreamy as they look. Centrally located in Victory Park, this hotel is convenient to just about every neighborhood—including downtown, uptown and Turtle Creek.
Continue the evening at the nearby classically chic bistro, Parigi (it means “Paris” in Italian). Their swanky patio is perfect for indulging in delicious variety of French-Italian specialties. The menu changes bi-monthly, and few instafood favorites are the “deconstructed” California roll, Brussels sprouts salad, and crab beignets.
5. The Woolworth and the W XYZ bar
Understated yet sophisticated, The Woolworth features a locally-inspired menu and an abundance of flavorful specialties for brunch, lunch and dinner. Located on a pedestrian walkway, it may be a bit hidden from view, but it has attracted a loyal following that loves to dine al fresco on the buzzing patio. A few food standouts include the Philly cheese egg roll and the crab cake sandwich.
For a nightcap, stop at the nearby Aloft Dallas Downtown’s W XYZ Bar, with its casually chic and welcoming ambiance ideal for a late-night libation.
