Cocktail Hour in Detroit
You have spent a long afternoon exploring the rich history of Detroit, and deserve a relaxing evening indulging in Motor City’s cocktail culture. Treat yourself to a drink in one of the country’s most up-and-coming culinary cities and consider yourself a trendsetter when you visit one (or all) of the cocktail bars below. Cheers!
1. The Sugar House (Corktown)
Mixology is both science and art, and The Sugar House is expert at both. Enjoy rotating seasonally themed menus and be sure to get your camera at the ready because the cocktails here are as photogenic as they are delicious.
2. Chartreuse Kitchen & Cocktails (Midtown)
Be sure to order a meal with your cocktail at Chartreuse, as the menu changes daily so you are always in for something new with each visit. Indulge in only the freshest local ingredients used in both the food and drink.
3. Grey Ghost Detroit (Midtown)
This swanky cocktail bar not only serves up some of the best drinks in Detroit, they also offer everyone’s favorite meal—Sunday brunch. You will find plenty of Michigan-born brews on the beer menu, as well as signature cocktails on and off tap.
4. Standby (Greektown)
Just off the beaten path, you will find yourself spending quite a bit of time in The Belt, located in downtown Detroit. It is actually an alley between Broadway and Library Street, and is covered in beautiful murals and art installations. Nestled in this alley, you will find this unique cocktail bar and restaurant.
5. Craft Work (Gold Coast)
Craft Work has about as many accolades for its cuisine as it does its cocktail menu. You may come for their raw bar, but you will stay for their happy hour. The cocktail menu is a satisfying collection of classics and signature sips, and the wine list offers a little something for everyone.
